Learn How to Defeat the Odds with Pinki

special school for differently abled children Pinki Sharma is a fifth grader, an all-rounder and a destiny’s favoured child. Coming from an underprivileged background, this 12 year old girl is an inspiration to all. Born with hearing loss/impairment, she never led her disability come in the way of her dreams. Good in studies, drawing and computer aptitude, she is one of the brightest students at Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan.

Know Her Abilities

She neither had literate parents nor enough resources for therapy and tuitions. But the girl had cognitive skills that made her shine not just in academics, but also in expressive art forms like dancing. In her free time, she even helps her classmates in completing their assignments. An epitome of punctuality and sincerity among her peer group, she is a curious child who is always keen to learn and ready to grasp.

What sets her apart from others is that she has ‘dismissed disability’ and focussed on her special abilities. Her sheer hard work has always paid her well and her ‘can do’ spirit is the basis of her success. Probably, she knows how to change her weaknesses into strengths and convert her dreams into success.

The Way She Travelled So Far

She never went to a pre-school before and her entire schooling happened at Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan (MBCN), a special school for differently abled children on Noida Expressway. Getting enrolled here was a life changing experience for her. She was given the right education and timely intervention which helped her overcome the disability of hearing and see a bright future for herself.

At present, Pinki is able to grasp lessons just like any normal child of her age. In fact, she has gone a bit forward to prove her academic excellence while following the standard CBSE curriculum for her class. A #WaveOfChange ensued when her family, therapists, teachers and support staff of MBCN – all became companions in her journey of improvement.

She often reminds us of a quote by Abraham Lincoln, ‘We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses’. It is the perspective that makes the difference. And Pinki’s journey inspires us all to defeat the odds and achieve the most in life.

We, at MBCN, wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
