Free Health Check up Camp in Shadipur Chiddoli

The Ponty Chadha Foundation regularly organizes health camps in villages and provides free health check-ups of which the villagers are usually unaware of. In a similar effort, the Foundation in collaboration with the Indo German Hospital organized a free health camp at Village Shadipur Chiddoli on December 3rd from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. Out of 350 families, a total of 138 patients attended the camp, which was held at a school premises.

  • There was a lot of space available for patients to separately register and wait for their turn. First they were given a token number after which they registered their name and age in the OPD card. The doctors seated in the classrooms were attending the patients on their turn.
  • After the check up they collected the medicines from another counter at the camp.
  • Among the patients, there were many infants, children who had come for a check up with their parents.
  • Maximum number of people had come with problems pertaining to skin and joint pain related issues for which they were given medicines. Wherever required, some patients were also referred to the hospital where they could further do their check up.

One of the villagers said that she had eye and gynae problems but never went for a doctor consultation.

A doctor at the camp said, “Most of the women in the village ignore gynae problems to due to lack of knowledge and understanding and support from families. Even old people who lose their vision take it for granted considering it an age related problem and never bother to go for a check-up. Our free health camp has benefited them to a large extent as they got medicines for regular problems for which they were never treated before.”

Set up by Mrs. Jatinder Kaur Chadha, wife of the late Mr. Ponty Chadha, this initiative is part of the efforts to channelize the group’s capabilities towards social welfare and economic development of the related communities. To keep this tradition alive, free health camps are organized at regular intervals.
