The first health-oriented lesson a mother gives to her child is “wash your hands well before eating”. This motherly teaching imbibes awareness about personal hygiene and its importance in leading a healthy lifestyle. But there’s more to the concept called hygiene for health. It encompasses personal as well as public hygiene. There is a better reason why ‘Clean India’ has become a movement in the country.

Those who are participating in the drive know that ‘cleanliness is next to godliness’. And this is the main reason why maintenance of personal and public hygiene holds utmost importance in our lives. Many issues like removing waste garbage, providing safe drinking water, maintaining the sewage and using toilets instead of open defecation are part of social cleanliness.

UNICEF statistics reveal that 2.5 billion people are deprived of improved sanitation, out of which, 1 billion go for open defecation. There are many more issues that surround us. To counter such issues, Wave Group has taken a CSR initiative in the form of ‘The Ponty Chadha Foundation’ in February 2013. The foundation is an attempt to bring the #WaveOfChange into the lives of socially and economically disadvantaged people in NOIDA and Ghaziabad.

To spread awareness around hygiene for health, The Ponty Chadha Foundation is continuously organizing mass meetings and drives for house-to-house contact. The idea behind this campaign is to promote safe sanitation in rural areas.

On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan (MBCN), a sister charitable organization of PCF initiated ‘Swachh Noida Campaign’. During this event, students with special needs were cheered for their cleanliness drive by Dr. Mahesh Sharma (Union Minister of State for Culture, Tourism and MoS for Civil Aviation).

On this occasion, Mr. Manpreet Singh Chadha, Vice-Chairman of Wave Group reiterated that this cleanliness drive in NOIDA is a humble contribution towards the Swachh Bharat Mission. The idea behind Swacch NOIDA drive was to reflect on the initiative of special children. ‘If we can, why not you?’ served as an inspiration to the individuals willing to contribute to the cleanliness of the city.

With such initiatives, Wave Group is fulfilling its responsibility of giving it back to the society.
