Relevance of Yoga in Today’s World

International Yoga Day

This year, the International Yoga Day is being celebrated with great aplomb throughout the globe. This fact itself speaks volumes about the popularity of Yoga in the modern day world. This event has united the world on a common platform. People have realized up to the therapeutic benefits of this life science and now are making it a part of their life.

The modern day lifestyle is as such where humans struggle with physical and physiological stress in their lives. This is where yoga comes as a rescue to alleviate the physical and mental stress. Based on the holistic principles of harmony and unification within body and nature, Yoga’s simple postures leave a powerful impact against busy lifestyle demands. It is not only a great solution to stay fit, but has also emerged as an alternative form of therapy. Many chronic ailments like asthma, diabetes, blood pressure, arthritis have found a great solution in Yoga.  All these facets convey the reason why this proactive discipline should be the part of our lives.

More than a discipline to stay fit and healthy, Yoga acts as a link between an individual and his true inner self. This ancient science has brought time-tested ways to treat stress and ailments gifted by the modern lifestyle. This is the main reason why people across the globe are resorting to yoga asanas, mudras and pranayama. This 5,000 year old Indian life science is still relevant in serving the modern day world.

It is a great achievement for India that an art form of Indian origin is bringing together different continents, communities, nations and beliefs under a holistic belief. Be it a child or adult, young or old, everybody is practising the postures and improving their way of life. It has sort of become a movement that will pick up more in years to come.

All these facets justify why we need an International Yoga Day celebration to prepare the mankind face the modern day challenges and stress in a healthy way. The day chosen for the celebrations, i.e. June 21st, 2015 also holds special significance in many parts of the world.  This is the longest day of the year in Northern Hemisphere. So, time-wise, the day gives people across the world a perfect chance to practice Yoga in their space comfortably.

Many countries again will echo the promising benefits of Yoga on this day. We, at The Wave Group, are also celebrating this special occasion at Wave Smart Jiyo in Noida on the ‘International Yoga Day’. Thousands will participate in this health-smart initiative and practice Sahaja Yoga meditation techniques and laughter yoga.

Besides, other exciting health activities like Zumba, Archery, Cricket, Cycling, Golf, Soccer, Skating, Volleyball, Fitness Drills and Boot Camps will give this healthy Sunday morning a perfect kick-start. An exciting way to begin a fruitful Sunday morning, indeed!
