Since 1985, India has been celebrating National Youth Day or Yuva Day on January 12, the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda – social reformer, philosopher and thinker. The objective behind it was to impart the philosophy and ideals of Swami Vivekananda to our students in particular, and the youth in general. Various activities like processions, speeches, conventions, presentations, seminars and competitions are planned for the day to encourage and inspire the youth to embark on a journey towards the development of a skillful country.

It was predicted that India will become the world’s youngest country by 2020, with 64 per cent of its population in the working age group of 15-64. To boost the potential of youths coming from less advantaged families, Sardar Kulwant Singh Chadha Skills Academy has been training and empowering them to earn a decent livelihood. At the academy, students are trained in the fields of facilities management, security services, hospitality and computer literacy, and are prepared to deal with on-the-job challenges and responsibilities via field demonstrations, classroom sessions and rigorous practical exercises.

In order to encourage competitiveness and make the environment more challenging, the academy even reaches out to train qualified young men from marginalised sections on a regular basis. As and when their training nears completion, these students are hired by various Indian companies and MNCs.

With Sardar Kulwant Singh Chadha Skills Academy by their side, many have headed towards a future of fulfillment. The ultimate challenge, however, lies in preparing a competent workforce that can adapt well to varying industry demands.
