Differently Abled Child Vidhi in MBCN
Name of Child: Vidhi (Cheeni)
Wing: Junior Wing
Vidhi, whom we fondly call Cheeni was admitted in our school, Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan on 20th October, 2010 as a toddler at the age of three. She was diagnosed as developmental delay case with I. Q. 79 NIMH. At that time, she faced great difficulties in walking and needed support while sitting. She was totally untrained in toilet, eating and drinking skills. Her receptive and expressive language was very feeble. She could follow only one or two instructions with prompts.
After having early intervention in physiotherapy, speech therapy, special education and young athlete activities, she is now able to sit in any normal chair and can walk independently. With the support of our teachers, she can understand maximum verbal commands given to her. More than that, she is able to express the need for going to toilet through gestures and can speak single words like Mama, Water (Pani) etc.
We have noticed a lot of improvement in her. Now, she eats her food with minimum ‘physical’ support. Her cognition is also getting better day-by-day. She does sorting, beading and identification of color with the help of common pictures. Her progress in social skills is also considerable. She takes very good interest in young athlete activities, water therapy and sensory story. She also imitates dancing steps / rhymes in her fun time. While walking, she shows good body balancing.
We are quite contented with her improvement in all spheres and wish she achieves the most in life.
