The WAVE Group Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program
Ever since its inception in 1963, the WAVE Group has been spreading its wings to almost all domains of business starting from sugar manufacturing, distilleries, paper manufacturing, real estate, malls & multiplexes to spirits, liquor retail & distribution, sports and entertainment. Its CSR arm, The Ponty Chadha Foundation, endeavors to give back to the communities that are directly or indirectly connected to the WAVE Group by implementing social initiatives that in the long term will empower them. Mrs. Jatinder Kaur Chadha has established the Foundation to bring alive the dreams of her late husband and the erstwhile visionary chairman of the WAVE Group, Mr. Ponty Chadha.
Our ongoing CSR programs encompass skills training for underprivileged rural and urban youth, primary healthcare, special education for differently abled children and their rehabilitation and food security.
The Skills Academy
With the objective to boost the potentials of youths coming from less advantaged families, the Ponty Chadha Foundation is establishing the WAVE Skills Academy in Ghaziabad. It is an endeavor to impart training to such candidates, thereby honing them with specialized skills and then helping them to get employment.
In-campus Facilities & Modules
The soon to be completed, WAVE Skills Academy, is being developed on 6 acres land in Dasna, Ghaziabad with a capacity to train 120 to 150 trainees per training programme. The campus will include residential accommodation, mess, kitchen and washrooms, training/lecture rooms, labs/simulation rooms, administrative block, store and open areas. The institution will initially impart training programs in security services and facilities management/hospitality training and later include training pertaining to the construction and real estate sectors, as these are in sync with the WAVE Group’s initiatives. Addition of more training modules is in the pipeline on the basis of requirements from different sectors.
With a teacher student ratio of 1:30, the idea is to impart training to multiple batches at a time. The training syllabus and curriculum will be based as per the acceptable industry standards. The proposed plans involved the recruitment of the best faculty with years of experience in imparting skills training in security, facilities management, fire fighting and soft skills.
Initially, candidates will be selected from rural areas of UP and with the advancement of the academy, trainees from other states will be chosen as well. The candidate’s economic and educational profile followed by his/her willingness to take up employment will be the criteria for their selection.
While the curriculum will include technical aspects, soft skills and basic computer literacy, the methodology will encompass lectures, group work, peer learning, learning through audio-visual aids, practical sessions, role pays and real time on job training. To ensure the flow of an impeccable skills program, an advisory board inclusive of industry experts and senior in-house management of the WAVE Group will be formed.
To ensure a healthy community, the Ponty Chadha Foundation actively organizes free diagnostic health camps for village communities. As part of its CSR program, the Foundation along with Dr. Ram Saran Garg Indo German Hospital has held over 40 health camps and has reached out to more than 5,200 people in the CSR villages of Sun City and Wave City in NOIDA and Ghaziabad.
Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan
Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan is an initiative of the WAVE Group in laying a foundation for the training and rehabilitation of the differently abled children. The NOIDA based institution is the largest of its kind in Asia with more than 800 children enrolled in the school. The special school is dedicated to make such children self-confident and to provide them a place in the society where they are not only accepted but also respected for their special abilities.
Food Bank Initiation
The Ponty Chadha Foundation has tied-up with the India Food Banking Network (IFBN) to ensure food security of those below the poverty line. The Foundation is involved in voluntary distribution of essential food grains such as rice and wheat and high energy biscuits and cookies to the underprivileged communities in NOIDA and Ghaziabad. The WAVE Group has held food collection drives in its offices and partnered with the Genesis School, NOIDA to launch the Food Drive Against Hunger.
