Humanitarian appeals always help. They penetrate deeper than political tradeoffs. – Jesse Jackson

A call to the entire humanity cuts across walls and dwells deeper into souls of the mankind.Humanity can be awakened to bring the whole world together to express solidarity against any crisis towards those in need.Only true humanitarians can come to aid during difficulties for offering assistance to the needy.Such people are true advocates of the humanitarian action.

Every year on 19th August, the world unites to observe the efforts of those offering aid, some even to the extent of risking their lives for humanitarian service. The act of solidarity is growing everyday with over 130 million people in need calling out for assistance. This year, we are going to extend our support under the theme of ‘One Humanity’ and reaffirm our commitment towards safely and effectively delivering help to all.

Help the Needy to Get to Impossible Choices
There is a requirement for more people to come forward and talk about the impossible choices faced by those caught amidst the crisis.Today, in the world of social networking, we are required to share one feeling of humanity across all continents. We understand the shared global responsibility that we owe to the mankind. It is through the shared human experiences that we are bound throughout divides to be able to make it a common responsibility of demanding action for the vulnerable population.

Business sense with a human heart
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is the way incorporating self regulation into a business model. And how? A businessman is definitely a human at heart. He/ She needs to take a call to practice a way of running their day to day operations, earn profits and contribute towards the upliftment of marginal sections within the spirit of the law, ethical standards and national or international norms.
One can take inspiration from many business leaders like Azim Premji, Dhirubhai Ambani and Ponty Chadha. Their life and contribution towards addressing various problems of the society have been applauded and admired by one and all.

Be it education, gender equality, sanitation and hygiene or skills development; any multinational firm or a small time business setup can choose to bring a change today, with government’s support and encouragement in India. CSR efforts by a firm in India, have evolved substantially over the last few decades and is now witnessing unprecedented interest and investments across the value chain.

As per the Companies Act, 2013 the mandate for corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been formally introduced for the Boards of Indian companies and the industry has responded positively to the reform measure undertaken by the government addressing the wide interest across the public and private sector, Indian and multinational companies. But, something we all should bear in our mind is that, any organization spending for the welfare of the society at large, needs to do it strategically, systematically and thoughtfully.

Support People in Distress with PCF
Our organisation, The Ponty Chadha Foundation (PCF) wishes to keep that spirit of humanitarianism alive and burning through mobilising help towards a better, humane world. We support people in distress or crisis to make them independent and aware of their rights so that they can live happily ever after. We know that humankind is full of diversities and every person is differently-abled.

Our effort is to lend them a helping hand so that they can stand on their own feet to carve a place for themselves in this big world.Keeping to this view, we got our own vocational wing running at our charitable school for special children, Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan (MBCN). Here, kids with different abilities work hard day and night to earn their own living through crafting paper-based products.

Many corporates like WAVE have set a good example for the society as to how businesses can invest in humanity, how they can strengthen communities and its positive impact on the society. On World Humanitarian Day, pledge that you will do your bit. Even your smallest contribution can start a revolution and inspire many…
