Top 10 Reasons Why We Need to Care for Rising Population

World Population Day -11th July 2015

With the World Population Day falling on 11th July 2015, The Ponty Chadha Foundation is busy exploring various factors as to why we need to be conscious about the rising population issue in India. The reason is simple – so as to take appropriate measures for generating awareness among people. As always, our chief objective is to ensure a sustainable living for the future generation in our country.

Following are the top 10 reasons that call for caring for the increasing population:

  1. Air Quality has been continually getting degraded with the emission of CO2 and other harmful gases by the burning of fossil fuels by factories and vehicles; the major impact being children suffering from asthma.
  2. Natural Resources like oil, gas and minerals are getting depleted day by day without any possibility of replenishment thereby moving steadily towards a “Zero Stock’ mark in nature, leading to an ‘energy-less earth’.
  3. Economic Inequality and poverty is dramatically increasing the gap between the wealthy and the poor, thus causing a great threat to social harmony and peaceful coexistence.
  4. Decreased Quality of Education is the resultant of the disparity in the incomes of people belonging to different strata of society. With more children, the affordability of parents for education gets reduced.
  5. Job Opportunities are not increased in proportion to the rate of growth in population as a result of which, a significant portion of the population goes without job, leading to social unrest and negative prosperity.
  6. Inflation creeps in due to the force of supply and demand; with more demand due to increased population and no proportionate increase in demand, there will be inevitable ‘rise in prices’ of goods and services, leading to economic disaster.
  7. Insufficient Food can be the consequence of increased demand ultimately leading to hunger, malnutrition, disease and death.
  8. Environment Pollution caused by enlarged economic activities may lead to distortion of the eco-system and ‘global warming’, leaving the earth inhabitable for future generations.
  9. Sanitation might be at risk leading to serious health hazards to the extent of putting life at risk in rural as well as urban areas.
  10. Water Shortage will lead to insufficient water for consumption, agriculture and sanitization that can have devastating effect on the living condition of the present as well as the future global populace.

The reasons mentioned are sufficient enough to draw the attention of the living populace of India and The Ponty Chadha Foundation, as a charitable organization is playing its own role for stimulating people to pledge for arresting the unbelievable escalation in population in our country.
