Continuing with its efforts to spread awareness about better health facilities, The Ponty Chadha Foundation conducted another free health camp at village Dinanathpur on November 19 from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. Held at a school playground of a government school the camp witnessed a total of 121 patients attending the camp out of 300 families.

• There was a lot of space available for patients to separately register and wait for their turn. First they were given a token number so that they could register their name and age in the OPD card. On their turn they went to the doctor for the check up and collected the medicines from another counter.

• Most of the patients at the camp complained about respiratory problems and joint pain. Some of the patients were also referred to a hospital where they could get an advanced check up and treatment.

• The doctors also advised the villagers about the safe sanitation practices.
A doctor present at the camp said that apart from spreading awareness about the early detection of the common problems, it is essential to make villagers aware of the importance of sanitation as well. He said, “Many common diseases are related to lack of hygiene and therefore it is necessary to make the villagers understand the significance of clean environment. While interacting with some village people who were waiting for checkups, we found that they had ENT and eyes related problems but never went for a doctor consultation.”

Head CSR, Wave Group & CEO, The Ponty Chadha Foundation said, “The initiative has been a part of the vision of our late Chairman Mr. Ponty Chadha to provide proper diagnostic facilities to the poor and needy people, especially in the rural areas. Our free health camps have benefited the villagers to a large extent as they got medicines for some of the common problems for which they were never treated earlier.”

Set up by Mrs. Jatinder Kaur Chadha, wife of the late Mr. Ponty Chadha, this initiative is part of the efforts to channelize the group’s capabilities towards social welfare and economic development of the related communities. To keep this tradition alive, free health camps are organized from time to time.
