In yet another effort to spread awareness about better health facilities, The Ponty Chadha Foundation in collaboration with the Indo German Hospital organized a free health camp at village Shekhpur Khichra on November 26th from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. A total of 134 patients out of 400 families attended the camp that was held at a school premises.
• The patients got their name and age registered in the OPD card and waited for the check-up by doctors seated in the classrooms. After the check up the patients collected the medicines from another counter.
• Maximum number of people had respiratory problems and joint pain for which they were given medicines and also referred to the hospital where they could go for further check up.
• Some villagers also had gastro and gynae problems.
• Most of the women in the village ignored problems related to gynae due to lack of knowledge and understanding and support from families.
• Shekpur Khichra had maximum Muslim population. There were many infants, children in this village who had come for check up with their parents.
A doctor present at the camp said, “Our free health camp had benefited them to a large extent as they got medicines for regular problems for which they were never treated before.”
Set up by Mrs. Jatinder Kaur Chadha, wife of the late Mr. Ponty Chadha, this initiative is part of the efforts to channelize the group’s capabilities towards social welfare and economic development of the related communities. To keep this tradition alive, free health camps are organized from time to time.
